This recipe is one of the best! It's so easy to put together.
It smells so good as it bakes, and tastes even better!
1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar (natural)
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup shortening
3/4 cup milk
1 egg
Topping (below)
Heat oven to 375. Grease round layer pan 9 by 1/2 inches, or square pan, 8 by 8 by 2 inches. Blend all ingredients except topping; beat vigorously for 1/2 minute. Spread in pan.
Sprinkle Topping over batter. Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Serve warm.
Topping
Mix 1/3 cup brown sugar (packed), 1/4 cup all-purpose flour, 1/2 cinnamon together in small bowl. Melt 3 tablespoons butter in small saucepan, add to sugar, flour and cinnamon mixture. Mix well.

That looks and sounds Yummy! I will try this.Your presentation is lovely as well.I enjoyed talking with you today.(:
That looks really yummy! I might try it with tea instead of coffee though. It can be a "tea cake" instead :)
God Bless,
Kelsey
I just noticed the snow falling down on your blog; that is neat!(:
We love coffee cake! It's also very good with Chocolate Chips in it. We put the cocolate chips and the topping in the middle and on top . . . half on top, half in the middle. Mmm!
Looks good! Baking is so much fun!
Mrs. B, I enjoyed talking with you too!
